20 years of operation in Saxony (GER)

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of IQ FireWatch in Saxony (GER), we were invited to the Hoyerswerda regional control centre.

The implementation of our automated forest fire early detection system two decades ago has led to significant improvements in Saxony's response time to forest fires. This achievement is attributed to the effective collaboration between high-tech solutions and the expertise of the fire service personnel, resulting in a drastic reduction of damages caused by forest fires.

"We have only small areas that burn down every year. Only individual fires occur in larger areas," says Stefan Schumann, head of the control centre.

Besides the presentation of performance statistics, the expansion of an IQ FireWatch site was also on the agenda. Back in 2004, Saxony was one of the first federal states to decide in favour of using state-of-the-art technology for early forest fire detection.

We are extremely proud to have made a valuable contribution to protecting people, nature, and assets in Saxony for 20 years.
